Design projects
Kid’s Summer
Camp Brochure
I designed a four-fold brochure for a kid’s summer camp, “Intrinsic Printmaking.” When initially opened, the brochure reveals a dragonfly created by the two outside pages.
Kid’s Summer
Camp Brochure
I used repeating patterns to create a connection between the different sections of the brochure. By creating overlapping images, a sense of depth is obtained.
Package Design
Packaging concept of reusable straws. Recycled paper stock will be used in the manufacturing of this package.
Label Design
I redesigned my favorite key lime-flavored sparkling water.
The original label was flat and contained only vector graphics. By photographing limes plunging into the water, I created depth, motion, and a sense of freshness to this design. The label was designed to wrap around a 1-liter plastic bottle.
STC Security
Car Wrap
The goal of this project was to design a car wrap for Southeast Technical College’s security department. Per instructions from their security department heads, specifications for two 2019 Dodge Chargers were designed as two separate projects.
Community Support
Initiative Logo
In 2020, Southeast Tech created the Community Support Initiative. This organization issued grant money to various community groups within STC to assist with service projects. My design for their logo was to visually depict the purpose of CSI, specifically that this organization provides financial support to student groups that benefit the community. The image of outer hands then holds an image of inner hands that hold an icon of an individual – represents this idea. The typography emphasizes the word “Support”; font size and typeface were selected to enhance this word’s hierarchical and tonal quality. The chosen colors mimic and create a connection to STC.
Typographic
Portraits
I used Adobe Photoshop to create this typographic portrait of Abraham Lincoln. Then I used his own words, the Gettysburg Address, in a displacement map which caused the letters to curve around the contours of the face.
Activities
Poster
The client, Presentation Sisters, is an organizational ministry that assists the Sioux Falls Hispanic community in healthcare, housing, social services, and education. The design will be printed on t-shirts which will then be distributed to volunteers during this Sioux Falls event. Since the audience is “family-friendly,” I created a design appealing and appropriate for small children.
Since the design requested was for a “family friendly” audience, bright colors, such as turquoise blue and hot pink were chosen for this “fiesta” event. “Family-friendly” images of a fiesta celebration were incorporated into this design, but also the importance that this celebration will be held at a historical location within the Sioux Falls community.
Photo
Reduction
Beginning with a photo, I reduced it to four colors. I then created a layer for each color to define depth and light.
5 Creature
Featured Zoo
For this informational poster, I created a South Dakota theme zoo map. Skills shown are mapping images, using the gradient tool, and integrating Adobe Ps, Ai, and Id applications.
Word Art
For this project, I used Adobe Illustrator to create the word “cameras” using the drawn images of cameras. Skills shown in this project are the use of the width tool to create woodgrain and gradient tool to create a sheen on metal and plastic.
Ad Campaign
Go Go Green
For this campaign, I created the image of a tree within a light bulb using Adobe photoshop. I wanted to visually emphasize the “idea” and “growth” of an ecological economy.
Ad Campaign
Venus of Willendorf
Weight Loss Center
For this campaign, I created the image of a climber climbing the side of an enlarged soda can using Adobe photoshop. I wanted to visually emphasize the “struggle” and “challenge” of obtaining weight loss.
NISOD International
Conference Program
NISOD is a membership organization committed to promoting and celebrating excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership at community and technical colleges. Each year NISOD asks media design students to participate in the Student Graphic Design Contest and design the official Conference Program for NISOD’s 2022 International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence. My design emphasized the concept that it was an “international” conference with global motifs.
Ziggy Stardust:
A David Bowie
Persona
In this informational poster, one of David Bowie’s many personas is identified. Ziggy Stardust was a character that Bowie performed from approximately from 1969 to 1976 in live concerts and several albums. Fonts associated with this time frame were chosen to unify the design.
Southeast Technical
Portfolio Show
My clients for the 2021 Portfolio Show campaign are the graduating students and faculty of the Media Design Technology and Digital Media Production programs at Southeast Technical College. The targeted audience is those business professionals interested in hiring the graduating students for Media Design or Digital Media Production positions within their companies. This campaign will also serve those first-year Media Design and DMP students as an example of what is expected during their time at Southeast Technical College. The show is open to the general public and, therefore, potential students of Southeast Technical College. Because my logo design is a round shape, it can be used in various projects of differing orientations. The colors, which are based on Southeast Technical College branding, connect the Portfolio Show to the school. The starburst pattern within the logo draws the viewer’s eye toward the text, “Portfolio Show,” and the text curved around the circular shape continually moves the focus and therefore creates interest.
Original Design
T-shirt design
In February I was honored that one of my screen prints was chosen for the 9th annual SD Governor’s biennial art exhibition. Since this year’s STC graduates were required to submit an original design for the portfolio show, I decided to replicate the design on a t-shirt.
Dementia campaign
The Dementia
Foundation
Campaign
One of the media design projects at STC was to create a campaign for a business or organization. Since my mom recently had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia, I was very interested in learning more about it and decided to include it in this project.
Letterhead &
Envelope
In designing the letterhead, I wanted to leave as much white space as possible to contrast the vibrant colors of the flower and black typography.
Rack Card
This information card was created as an educational element of the dementia campaign. It will be available in reception areas at those locations where dementia patients and their families receive care.
Informational
Brochure
This brochure entitled “Advocates for families impacted by dementia” is one way the Dementia Foundation provides information. The “gatefold” brochure will be sent to those who request information about the resources, education, and research that this organization supplies.
Thank you card
& envelope
The Dementia Foundation provides a thank you card for each donation they receive.
Thank you for your generous gift to the Dementia Foundation. We are thrilled to have your support. Through your donation, we have been able to continue research and to assist families impacted by dementia. You truly make a difference for us, and we are extremely grateful!

Fundraising Event
Poster
Each year, the Dementia Foundation holds a Family Fun Run as their annual fundraiser. For this design, I repeated the forget-me-not flower as the sole pattern of a running shoe. I choose to askew the typography to create a mood of excitement and unexpectedness.
Participant
T-shirt
Those volunteers who assist with the race will be given a t-shirt to wear during the event and take with them as a memento. The same shoe sole pattern is used to connect the t-shirts with this event.
Invitation to
Special Event
The Dementia Foundation maintains a list of last year’s participants and then mails invitations to those who have donated to their organization. In keeping with the theme of this special event, the sole shoe image is used to connect the invite with the Family Fun Run.
Event Badge
During the Family Fun Run, several staff members will be placed at locations to direct participants and visitors to the event routes. Those volunteers who do not wish to wear t-shirts will be given lanyards and badges to identify them as event staff.
